Hello old friends and ex-holiday tenants! It’s been quite a while since last we talked (or I wrote) and to be honest, I struggled to remember how to manoeuvre through the site. Now we’re back home for good, I didn’t expect to ever be writing another blog entry so let me start with a bit of background.
In 2005, on completion of our house, we purchased quite a few tonnes of pebbles (from a couple of local landscapers) for the gardens and subfloor areas. Years later, I’ve found an eternity ring in amongst the pebbles. So my hope, in writing this post, is to find a past tenant, who may have lost the ring while holidaying at our house.
I’ve tried a few different avenues but so far, no luck. At first, because there were a lot of sea shells in the mix, I suspected that the pebbles may have been sourced from a local beach and Facebook locals suggested Forster – Tuncurry. But then I discovered that sea shells can actually come from inland rivers (Mount George was another source suggested) and, remembering we’re talking around 20 years ago, the proverbial haystack has become bigger and bigger.
A call to the landscaping companies suggested that the ring probably wouldn’t have survived the processing that pebbles go through so when a friend suggested that perhaps one of our holiday tenants had dropped the ring, I decided to change tack.
A phone call to the property manager didn’t provide any answers as she couldn’t recall anyone asking about a missing ring, but, as she and my friend suggested, whoever dropped it may not have realised until later and then assumed it was lost at the beach (directly across the road).
So here I am with one last ditch attempt to solve this mystery. I remember that a few tenants took an interest in this blog and, while it’s a long shot, perhaps there’s still a chance of returning the ring to its rightful owner.
